Hlemmur Square is happy to announce that one of Iceland´s most celebrated actors, Þröstur Leó Gunnarsson will be our guest chef for a two week period starting this coming Thursday.

Mr. Gunnarsson is particularly memorable for his roles as Hamlet and as Franco in Trainspotting. His main film roles include 101 Reykjavik directed by Baltasar Kormákur and in the award winning film Nói Albinói which won him an Edda Award for best supporting actor. He won another award for best supporting actor for The Bridegroom in 2008.

He has had a passion for cooking for a long time, cooking onboard fishing vessels among other things. A multi talented man and a great chef. The menu will include traditional Icelandic meat soup and buried Icelandic salmon among other things.

In addition, all desserts on the new menu will be made by Mr. Gunnarsson’s wonderful wife, Helga Sveindís Helgadóttir and include blueberries in sour cream with Toblerone chocolate and Swedish chocolate cake with fresh cream.

The Bar

The ground floor features a craft beer and cocktail bar, the perfect place to bring travelers and locals together.

In addition to an extensive choice of Icelandic craft beers on tap, the bar also has one the largest selection of bottles in the country and a range of delicious cocktails.
